Anna Chromik (Vice-president of the Board)
has a PhD in humanities, works at the Institute of English Cultures and Literatures at the University of Silesia where she is a lecturer in contemporary cultural studies (body studies and critical theory), theory of culture, and cultural aspects of media and translation. She is also the head of the Gender Studies Centre at her Department. She was educated in Poland and England She lectured in Poland, England and France.
Her academic interests focus on the themes of corporeal subjectivity, psychoanalysis and the ethical potential of art, with special focus on Bracha L. Ettinger’s art and theory. Author of numerous academic articles (mainly in English) and the book “Disruptive Fluidity: The Poetics of the Pop-Cogito” (2012), as well as a few translations into Polish.
In private (that is, also politically) mom, partner, step-mother, a housemate of a cat, a home-bred artist of the everyday.
Karolina Harazim–Mazur (Vice-president of the Board)
The main tools in her work are words and time. Gives advice, stands guard and comes to the rescue. Co-operates with artists, institutions and organisations consulting and co-ordinating the realisation processes and promotion. Active in the field of cultural animation and artistic events, mainly focused on photography.
MA in Journalism and Social Communication at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Art Managment and Contemporary Art Curatorial Postgraduate Studies and Publishing Politics Postraduate Studies at Warsaw University alumna.
Gives advice and co-ordinates actions and realisation of promotional processes of cultural events, co-operates with artists and institutions. Experienced in the field of fundraising, both from public and private sources. Between 2007 and 2010 Chair of the Board of the Pauza Foundation for the Promotion and Development of Modern Art. Since 2010 leads an author’s academic course and workshops on marketing in artistic practice in co-operation with Krakow’s Universities, Fine Arts Academy and Polytechnic. In 2011–2013 co-operated with Goethe-Institut Krakau as Goethe-Guerilla project co-ordonator. During the 10, 11 and 12th edition of Krakow Photomonth PR and promotion co-ordinator of the festival. Media relations co-ordinator of the 38th edition of the Theatrical Reminiscences Festival. Since 2013 Bunkier Sztuki Contemporary Art Gallery’s spokesperson, currently on parental leave.
Author of The Stroller Diaries, a visual record of the interesting, funny, intriguing pieces of reality encountered during walks with her Son.
Ewa Pasternak–Kapera (President of the Board)
MA at the National Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre in Łódź and at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. A photographer, a researcher in culture and a feminist.
Divides her time between her own creative work and theoretical and academic research. Since 2012 a curator and project co-ordinator at Zofia Rydet Foundation, focused on the processing, preserving, digitalisation and analysys of Rydet’s photographic archives. Currently a Member of the Board at the Foundation.
In 2016 she brought on her conceptual activities aboard Messier42 – Krakow’s gallery of current art which is now named currentart.space. Since the beginning of 2017 she has held the post of the gallery’s director.
In her creative work she uses various art techniques, creating collages based on photography. Her surreal handmade pieces are usually nudes/self-portraits renegotiating the questions of individual and female identity, corporeality and the erotic in the context of aesthetic conventions and cultural outlines. Her projects and individual pieces were presented at both solo and group exhibitions. The most recent one – The Odd Garden – being a subjective documentation of her pregnancy, was presented in 2016 in Krakow.
